BISD’s Craft part of AIA discussion
Kristin Craft, Boerne ISD Superintendent, was invited by the American Institute of Architects’s (AIA) San Antonio chapter, along with A4LE, to participate in a March 24 joint discussion on the state of public education.
Alongside Dr. Brian Woods, Texas Association of School Administrators deputy executive director for advocacy, and local superintendents Mandy Epley, Navarro ISD, Scott Caloss, Medina Valley ISD, and John M. Craft, Northside ISD, the panel discussed the evolution of public education and the spaces in which public education takes place.
Topics covered also included building spaces that meet shifting expectations and uses and can grow to suit rapid demographic and technological changes facing our region.
The luncheon welcomed district leaders, architects and community partners from around the greater San Antonio area as they work together to build a more resilient future for public education in Texas.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to discuss how Boerne ISD is focusing our energies on creating educational spaces that enhance student learning,” Craft said.
“As our demographic report has shown, our status as fast growth has slowed down, and we are now experiencing a more steady growth year-over-year,” she said.
“As we continue to add families to our community,” she said, “it’s critical that we are ready for them and that we provide the most suitable, innovative, and cost-efficient spaces possible.”
Boerne ISD is one of only 31 districts in the state to achieve six straight A-ratings from the Texas Education Agency. Boerne ISD is a top-rated public school district serving more than 11,180 students across Kendall, Comal and Bexar counties.
