Cow Creek adjusts to Stage


BOERNE — The Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District has adopted Drought Stage 2 levels for its users, the board of directors Monday voting to make the move as the result of recent rainfall. District staff made the recommendation based on improving groundwater levels, recent rainfall and increased streamflow in local creeks and rivers.

During Stage 2 restrictions domestic well owners are allowed to water with sprinklers on their watering day before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

The district’s board released the revamped lawn and landscape water schedule for its customers: Days / Address Ends With:

• Monday 0 or 1

• Tuesday 2 or 3

• Wednesday 4 or 5

• Thursday 6 or 7

• Friday 8 or 9 Hand-held hoses or hand-held buckets are allowed at any time. Permitted users must demonstrate a 20% reduction in permitted groundwater use or as specified in the operating permit.

The board also adopted amendments to the district rules and held a budget workshop. The district holds monthly meets at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.
