‘Moriarty,’ Stocking Stuffers on tap

CELEBRATING THE ARTS

Ken Ludwig’s “Moriarty,” a comedy-mystery about Sherlock Holmes, opens Nov. 6 for a two-weekend run at Boerne Community Theatre, 907 E. Blanco Road.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson investigate the theft of the King of Bohemia’s love letters, which quickly spirals into an international conspiracy involving blackmail, espionage and Professor Moriarty.

Tickets for the Nov. 6-15 showings are $20-$24. Order online at: boernetheatre. org or call the box office at 830-249-9166.

Stocking Stuffer program

For several years now, The Hill Country Council for the Arts and the Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild have partnered to create the Stocking Stuffer program, a great Kendall community project.

Stuffing handmade Christmas Stockings, these two organizations combine forces where members of Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild create custom-made stockings, and HCCArts board and community members, stuff them with in-kind personal item donations made by you and local businesses, during a funfilled afternoon social.

The stockings are delivered to clients of Kendall County Women’s Shelter and the Hill Country Pregnancy Center. The children are covered through other programs in the area, so we decided unanimously to pamper the moms and women provided for by these two organizations.

This year, our goal is to provide Stuffed Stockings to 160 deserving moms and women, in hopes of sharing Christmas cheer. We ask that you contribute this year and, to make donations easier, we accept cash or check donations mailed to: HCCArts, c/o Stocking Stuffer Program, P.O. Box 2024, Boerne, Texas 78006.

Want to make in person donations? Contact Paula Horner at 210-269-8349.

Boerne residents can sponsor handmade stockings and stuffings with a $100 donation. You can also donate online by referring to the website, www.hccarts.org. All donations are tax deductible.

HCCArts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and recognized by Americans for the Art, Hill Country Business Committee for the Arts, and partnering with local and Hill Country businesses to promote the arts in the Texas Hill Country.

Programs include performance arts, visual decorative and fine arts, music, dance, and literary arts.
