PRECINCT 1 JP
Michele Van Stavern will serve four more years as Kendall County’s Precinct 1 justice of the peace, a post she has held since 2021, following the Nov. 3 General Election.
Van Stavern, 49, a Republican, easily outdistanced Democrat foe Adriann Wolfe, in early voting, drawing 71.5% of the 4,165 early votes cast in the race — a 3,299-to-1,316 vote advantage from the 12 days of early voting.
In Election Day balloting, Van Stavern garnered 796 votes for a total of 4,095, and Wolfe drew 244 Election Day tallies, bringing her total to 1,560 — a difference of 72.4% to 27.6%.
Van Stavern, who holds a master peace officer license and a bachelor’s degree in judicial administration, was appointed to the JP1 post in 2021 and ran unopposed in 2022.
Her win on the GOP ticket is the exception rather than the rule after balloting Nov. 3 across Texas and the nation resulted in a surge of Democrat campaigners winning their races in what is being termed a “blue tsunami.”
