The personnel protecting the Boerne Independent School District are now the state’s top police force ensuring campus safety, officials announced.
The Boerne ISD Safety and Security Team has been named the 2026 Agency of the Year by the Texas Association of School Resource Officers.
The statewide recognition honors BISD’s “commitment to school safety, campus security, student support and strong partnerships between school resource officers, district staff, students, families and the community,” a release noted.
The team led by Rick Goodrich, chief of safety and security, was nominated by Officer Jared Moore.
“Being recognized as the best in the state by the Texas Association of School Resource Officers is an incredible honor,” Goodrich said in a prepared statement. “I am very proud of this team and the impact they have on our campuses each day. Their commitment to protecting and supporting our students, staff and families is second to none.” In his nomination, Moore highlighted the work being done across Boerne ISD and the team’s dedication to setting a high standard for school safety, educators said.
“We are extremely proud of our Safety and Security Team for earning this statewide honor,” said BISD Superintendent Kristin Craft.
“This recognition reflects the professionalism, dedication and heart our officers and safety personnel bring to our schools every day,” she added. “Their work helps create safe, welcoming environments where students can learn, grow and thrive.”
The award recognizes agencies that demonstrate excellence in school-based law enforcement, safety leadership, relationship- building, and service to students and staff, officials said.
Boerne ISD will be recognized during TASRO’s 12th annual School Safety Conference July 6–9 at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel in Corpus Christi.
The awards luncheon is scheduled for noon July 6.
