The Boerne Little League team came up short in its opener Thursday at the Southwest Region tourney in Waco.
Boerne, the Texas West champions, fell to Texas East, 10-3, despite outhitting their opponents 7-5.
They play Saturday and need to win to stay alive in the double-elimination event. In fact, they have to win Saturday, Sunday and Monday to make it to the championship game.
The winner of the tourney advances to the Little League World Series set for later this month in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
