Clear choice for future

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Editor, We all live in Kendall County for a reason. We love the rural heritage, the open spaces, the safe communities and the unique quality of life that defines the Texas Hill Country.

But we also know that our home is changing rapidly. Growth is coming, and it brings a choice: do we let growth overwhelm us, or do we manage it together?

When we consider the race for Kendall County Commissioner Precinct 2, one must perform a fact check. The following is a partial relevant fact check of the reported accomplishments of the current Precinct 2 county commissioner:

• Collected taxpayer taxes have increased in the last three years; $7,510,950.

• Tax rate has not been lowered three years in a row.

• County government employee headcount has grown from 322 to 356 employees.

• County budgetary general fund balance is expected to decrease by $4 million for fiscal year 2026.

• Road and bridge fund balance is $4,813,000 and expenditures are estimated to be $6,872,335.

• There have been no new road improvements in Precinct 2. There is only one candidate with a concrete plan to ensure our infrastructure keeps up with our population: J.C. Taylor will be a true partner for our future.

J.C. isn’t just running to hold office; he’s running to work.

What sets him apart is his proven dedication to protect our quality of life. He understands protecting our quality of life requires more than just sitting at a desk in the courthouse. This election is about preserving what makes Kendall County special. It is about a proactive, collaborative approach that ensures our future is bright.

To protect our quality of life, we need a commissioner who listens, collaborates and acts.

Go vote Tuesday for J.C. Taylor. He is the clear choice for our future.

— Richard Elkins Former Kendall County Commissioner Pct. 2
