The Comfort softball team needed a win last Friday at Blanco to have a chance at the postseason, but the Lady Panthers turned in a solid performance and defeated the Deer in five innings, 11-1.
Comfort ends its 2026 season at 2-8 in district (1318 overall), while Blanco snagged the last spot available in 5-3A at 4-6 after they swept the Deer last week.
CHS scored the first run of the game with a single run in the top of the first but were kept off the board in the final four frames.
Blanco answered with 2 runs in the first, 2 in the second, 4 in the third, followed by another run in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth.
CHS finished with 4 hits and Ella Thiele recorded 2 of them after hitting a double and a single and scoring the team’s only run.
Moorea Davis doubled and Mariah McCullough both singled as well.
Thiele pitched 4 innings and only gave up 2 earned runs and 7 walks to go with 4 strikeouts.
