Hill Country Family Services has been tabbed to help distribute nearly $100,000 of flood relief funds directly to families in Kendall and Bandera counties, according to the agency’s executive director.
Bryce Boddie said Tuesday the agency accepted the role of facilitator of $94,088 from the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, the lead collector and distributor of funds for flood relief since the tragic July 4, 2025, Guadalupe River flood that killed 134 people.
Boddie said HCFS staff met with Community Foundation representatives prior to the Aug. 4 announcement of aid money for residents.
“They called us and asked us directly to help facilitate the grant,” Boddie said. “We don’t usually give money directly to clients, but we are doing so, to help facilitate this and get money to the people who need it.”
The grant allows for up to $1,500 per family or individual, based on household size. The money is deposited directly into the recipients’ bank accounts, for them to use as they wish.
“We also have Bandera County we’re working with, outside of our normal service area,” Boddie said. “We’re helping the Community Foundation do this.”
HCFS distributed 16 checks in the first few days of the grant, a number Boddie says he expects will be climbing by the hour.
Potential recipients can go to the Rebuild Texas Hill Country website — rebuildkerr.org — and fill out an application.
“They fill out the form and it filters down to us,” Boddie said. “If we have people that received help or have called us (HCFS), we direct them to that website.”
Austin Dickson, Community Foundation CEO, thanked Boddie and HCFS for helping to distribute funds directly to residents.
“ While long- term recovery is, by definition, long, our recovery efforts are also moving fast, getting resources to impacted households quickly,” Dickson said. “That’s only possible through the extraordinary efforts of Family Services.”
